Jim, >>>Wal Mart is going broke because people saw them as a FAD <<<

Yeah, people don't go there no more, cuz its too crowded - instead they're goin' to Neiman Marcus for the specials - and its less crowded.

Jim,

Your analogies are flawed, you are talking about retailers, where the perception is that people can get BRAND NAME products at bargain prices. A better analogy would be any generic products vs. a brand name product. You don't see large sections in grocery stores devoted to generic products.

When you and Joseph go out to buy a product, do you buy the absolute cheapest product available? If a product will get you from point A to point B and is cheaper, do you buy it regardless of it's brand. Do you both drive Yugos?

John

Ironically, almost everything you said applies to me :-)

I no longer buy from warehouse stores, Home Depot is probably one exception because it's conveniently located, but hate it every time I go there and promise myself I won't do it again.

Everything else... well, I buy most groceries from a small convenience store for QUALITY, I buy sports equipment from small specialized stores for QUALITY, etc.

And I'm not alone :-)
