Speaking of Bubba Gates. I met a guy in Stockton California who used to be a Treasury guy at Ampex back in the early 80's. He was sent up to Washington to meet a young guy in a start-up (Bubba). It seems that Bubba was developing some new software called Dumb Operating System and needed some of Ampex's equipment, but he had no money. So he offered Ampex 10% of his company (now Microsoft). The treasury guy went back to California and told his boss about Bubba's offer and they both agreed that it would be to risky to risk $200,000 worth of equipment for such a shaky business.

No joke, a true story.
