I believe you and Glenn are onto something. I suspect the same thing. Let's hope a December rally would have the enthusiasm we need to at least narrow the gap to 40...we can't lose TOO badly to Tim! ;o)

Also, could you please post the block trades for today? I saw your post earlier, but it covered trades up to 2pm, I believe.

Gary, I wish the info below were more current, but it is clear that all the big buyers think there is value in ASND and have for months.

All the time the stock was plunging and they were reporting "downgrades" or reductions in earnings projections, they were accumulating.

nasdaqtrader.com

I read in the Brandywine investors newsletter that they like to trade on Instinet so their blocks are not seen by the public. This allows them to accumulate with minimum impact on price. Maybe there has been a whole lot of accumulation going on that we don't see...

gary this fits very well into the buyout theory but.... with tax selling gripping some, why not the suitor of asnd gather the position under the cover of these people selling?

the problem becomes what if the acquirer has taken this into account and will have the necessary positon by the time the tax selling abates?

now we have a balance again of buyer and seller, so we are back in equilibrium. but the possible suitor of asnd has its position, less a fraction until the suitor is ready to come forward, either friendly or hostile.

just another chapter for your best seller.

The big jump will take place on Friday, Jan. 2, 1998. Ascend is one of those stocks that you can't afford to own them, but you can't afford not to own them either.
