those were jan 98 targets per the post.... if the market is still around the 7900 range count on 80 after earnings...if the dow is up to 8300's then cpq could be 100 after earnings... we need jan earnings to cause this , but I think after thanksgiving we start moving up. Yes, I know Ben Rosen and the break out of Rod from Cpq wasn't that bitter... management was very friendly at CPQ. My first month at cpq the gave me the systems for the month end processes... My first mnothend I converted us from timeshare to a hp3000 ASK MRPII system, performed a std. cost roll-up, conducted a physical inventory and performed the month in close. It all had to happen in 40 hrs. The operations mgr and myself were one tired turkies. So, no sleep.... next day management looked me up just to say thanks for coming on board and being able to do all that with no sleep. But, this stuff was common with employees..that's why I said . We didn't have just a job. and why cpq hit 111mm first yr and was the fastest compnay to hit the fortune 500 and 1 billion revenue. you don't do that when you are just reporting to a "job". it was simply Rosen thought low cost pc was needed in 1989-90.. canion wanted to wait. pfief got in bec. he was the strong commmodity player we hired from TI toward the end of 1983 I think...it was certainly after me since I remember pfief 's announcement and I was glad to have him take over Europe(international) for cpq. A secret team was put together in 1991. this team played like it was a small start up compnay that was going to make a pc. they went to vendors and on much lower volumes got cheaper purchase parts than cpq got. When the team revealed they had created a low cost pc and what they were buying the parts for it was a shocker at cpq... this was after canion left. These were all cpq employees on the team. the team caption was promted to vp and put in charge of the new low cost pc project. then in june of 1992 cpq released the first low cost pc.... something like a $2000 386<ggg> dell, ibm, hp stock took a dive then and cpq started going up. This can all be confirmed in a wallstreet article in june of 1992.
