The other thing that makes no sense to me is when Gingrich says that he wants to give some of the illegals the right to permanent residence and then in the next breath he says that it is not amnesty. So WTF is it when illegals are given legal status? What way would giving amnesty be different than giving them legal status? If one went to any illegal and told him/her that he/she will not be given amnesty but they can stay in the country he/she would not balk. From a practical standpoint it is the same thing. So perhaps they throw in a fine and/or community service but that is nothing in relation to their right to permanent residence in the US. A rose by any other name........
