I also met a gentlemen who asserted his Thai wife had access to the upper crust of Thai society.. The one thing he told me that I found most interesting is that, apparently, the royal family owns approximately 30% of all the total land in Thailand outright, especially Pattaya, and Phuket areas. Other sources cite that the they, as royals, technically own all the land (which I guess they do, if they want to assert their rights). businessinsider.com I like Samui as well, and there's a lot to be said of Kho Tao as well, although much smaller. I'm just not sure I'd want to try and buy property there when I don't own the underlying land. I'd just consider it a lease, and therefore, disposable.. Which means I wouldn't want to spend more than I needed to.. And that's a valid point about the potential for political upheaval there, especially when the King dies. I expected it last May when it appeared the King was on death's door. Hawk
