Barney Frank said some stupid things. But what, exactly, did he do that prevented wiser people from fixing Freddie and Fannie? Real actions, not just saying things about Republicans being mean or something. And where did those stupid names come from anyway?

Freddie and Fannie were costly failures. Sadly, it's not clear if they're that big compared to the truly massive amount of "liquidity" the Fed continues to generate , in some large but unknown part by buying up crap toxic asset detritus left over from the meltdown. I'd sort of like it if all the local Frank followers took time out to get some real information on that, which I at least would be interested in knowing more about. I realize it's more fun to beat a dead horse, though.
