I feel tainted whenever I have recourse to law and lawyers. Anyone who requires a contract to keep them in line is not a person worth dealing with. Yes and no. The whole point of the rule of law is that the playing field is kept level. It doesn't mean that you will win, it means you get a fair shake. Any good lawyer would tell you to stay as far away from lawyers as possible, although you would do well to use one for a deed or a will and they do come in handy for writing contracts. Most of the things I do are pretty ugly, if I look closely at them, but I didn't create the ugly, I am trying to clean it up. If people would honor their marriage vows and their civil commitments to each other, I would not have a job.
