It's truly sad when just being decent and sane puts you head and shoulders above all the current (R) possibilities! The (D)'s really do need a competitive opposite team, lest they devolve into past corruptions.

Norm Ornstein said on Diane Rehm this morning that he and Tom Mann are just finishing another book together entitled "It's Even Worse Than It Looks." Mann and Ornstein have been around DC for a long time, both as participants in government and observers/journalists. They not only have a lot of DC experience, but (shock, gasp) they even have some scholarly background in government and public policy. One is nominally a Republican and the other a Democrat, but neither is partisan, just smart decent policy wonks and commentators. We are in the middle of (at the beginning of?) a growing public insanity at the highest levels of government.
