A Jamaican proprietor of a restaurant up here has 13 kids from more than 5 women, his latest flame is from Ethiopia. All his friends that play dominoes Friday night at the Shack have similar amounts of progeny. The old guy the restaurant is registered to has 55 + grand kids. This is completely normal for them and the women don't seem to mind because it is normal for them to.

Therefore the man who sticks around always produces better offsprings. I think so, too. The man who sticks around is a better man, to begin with. Anyway, women can tell in advance what kind of man she is dealing with. But young and foolish is, well, young and foolish. If the girls have fathers around, the fathers will keep the bad boys away.

I admit I don't know much about Angola, so was surprised by your comment. It was a Portuguese colony, and there was slavery, and many wars, and a bad political system. It may be a place where people have lost the culture that kept family relationships healthy. Wikipedia says that many men practice polygamy due to loss of men in war. And there's always the "boys will be boys, men will be men," if a woman lets a man get her pregnant and run away, that's a choice, too (unless she was raped). But in a culture that does not value women except in traditional roles, babies do give a woman status, and someone to love.
