Hi All:

At the end of last month, I noted that the bulls would need to get above 1275 on the SPX at the close of this month with a convincing candle.

I think the bulls have accomplished this goal and this has caused me to turn neutral on the SPX.

There is a long term trend line acting as resistance on the SPX monthly. If the January candle is consumed by February on the downside, that would be bearish.

I note that the 10 month moving average on the NYSE continues to act bearishly.

Neutral means the market by my estimation has an equal chance of going up or down for the next few months.

With that said, the risk of loss is far more on the downside when compared to any gains going forward for the year.

Short term, the SPX is working off overbought indicators most often found in a rising wedge pattern.
