I think that is a reasonable approach. Too much change too quickly would probably insure a major recession / depression though I would redirect much of the spending such as securing our borders. Also need to slow down the volume of regulations. I have seen firtst hand how in many firms, the majority of the technology spending is directing at compliance with new regulations.

Yep. Get a republican POTUS. Get control of the Congress via new TP candidates. Monitor voter expectations versus the candidate promises. Rinse, repeat for several elections.
