Uncle and all - a bankrupt country cannot be the policeman of the world. Concur. And for the past 60+ years when America was rich, she failed at being the policeman of the world. Except for small coordinating forces, I am in favor of bringing our troops home from everywhere. I just hope we still have beds for all of them.

We are broke and raising taxes or cutting spending will only make us less broke. We are done as policeman of the world. Bob, I'm not sure this is necessarily so. I saw calculations indicating that with moderate cuts the debt could be paid off and the budget balanced over a period of years. It's just that the morons refuse to consider numbers. Agree about policing the world, but non-proliferation must be enforced. Otherwise soon there will be no world to police - or not to police.
