I don't think the internet will have a leveling effect. Look how quickly romney crushed both gingrich and Perry with millions in negative advertising.

This is what the big money will do. They will find every Democratic vulnerable house seat and pour millions into the Republican seat (The Republican party is clearly the vessel the rich will use to take advantage of the 99%). NO way to combat that.

Secondly, they will intimidate anyone who wants to run by using so much detctive work to find baggage or just make shit up (liek the Swiftboating) that many good people will be too intimidated to even run.

When I ran for state office, I would not play ball with the oil companies and I beat my incumbant Republican opponent 2 to 1 in the primary without money (debate). The oil companies poured huge amounts of money into my opponenet after that and even had people contact my ex clear down in Olympia Washington to try and find dirt on me.

The used many other forms of intimidation as well. running for the state legislature was like being whipped with a cat o nine tails. Not for the timid.

The citizens United case will magnify the intimidation many times considering how much money the rich have to buy the congress.

Our democracy is in peril and I do not think very many realize how dangerous it is.

<<Yes, the Citizens United decision is going to have profound electoral effects. OTOH, the rise of the internet has had a leveling of the playing field effect inasmuch as the Dems seem to have learned how to tap into the "Joe Citizen" contributor. Maybe it turn out as bad as we think it will.
