I'm a fan of girl groups, dating back to Joan Jett and the Runaways, and the Go-Gos, but never did I think I'd see any band from military controlled Burma, let alone an all-girl band. Burma is a country where most people earn just a few dollars a day, but, to their credit, they are enacting reforms at a staggering pace. The band is called the "Me N Ma Girls", a play on Myanmar Girls (their prior name was the Tiger Girls). They are a creation of a woman from Australia, and the only time they've been out of the country has been to go to neighboring Thailand.
