If I wanted to vote for an ideologically confused politician, I'd move to New Zealand.

Ron Paul would enact serious changes in favour of return to constitutional processes which were so fantastically successful for so long.

and so would any decent Tea party candidate, which happens to be a serious grass roots popular movement. A cult like following of a quirky individual is not an American way to solve problems. At least it hasn't been until now.

Except for the closing of the Straits, which I think unlikely, agree completely.

Ron Paul could have changed the thrust of history, but it's too late now. His message is getting across, finally, but we have incurred too much debt, printed too much money, and become too inured to the loss of liberty to make any difference now. We were too debt and credit-addled, 'prosperous', to see what was slowly happening to us.

His achievement:

2012 will be a very interesting year.
