I'm tremendously bothered by what Bush did, but we cannot turn back the clock. I'm worried about the present WH occupant's competency to deal with the problem.

So far I've taken it on pure faith that we had to bailout the Banks to save the economy. Maybe--we'll see.

I would not have gone into Afghanistan at all. I differ there. And I would have started cutting defense earlier.

I also would have not rebated Americans extra tax refunds. I also would have started preaching belt tightening.

I would not have put the credibility of the Office of the President on line by personally going down and negotiating with the opposition on TV. Instead I would have sent my negotiators in first to see if a deal could be worked out.

Obama needs to tone his rhetoric and ratchet up his implementation of things that work.

I would have proposed some CCC like organization to offer basic jobs to young people in environmental projects.

I would have started proposing budget cuts earlier and preparing the American People for more to come. I would have offered tax incentives earlier for employers who hired someone who was unemployed for over 26 weeks.

I would have proposed universal service of two years and a draft for all young people between ages 18-26 with alternative service offered in public do good organizations saying it is morally wrong, in a democracy, to hire people to defend us.

Lastly, I would have submitted legislation to end all welfare for any future unwed mothers starting 1 year from the date of the passing of the legislation (so any currently pregnant women would be covered) saying that it is time for us to go back to supporting our children ourselves as that teaches responsibility and character.

well said: That is the simple truth. And the right wing never speaks of it. That is immoral; and they talk about family values. How about basic human values, like telling the truth?

<<If you can tell me what a person, who inherited a debt, two wars and hungry jobless masses is expected to do? Let us see what your solution is instead of a ridiculous banter of increased debt.

And it does not bother you a bit that Bush took a surplus and a booming economy and turned it into a deficit and increasing unemployment. But oh, what Obama is doing bothers you?
