Thanks Karen! I think I need to at least visit the NA on Sand Point Way.

I actually spent some hours yesterday studying one branch of my family who all lived in Sackets Harbor NY which is a little town located on Lake Ontario. Four of the menfolk enlisted right around the same time..............1813 (I need to check dates).........the youngest being 14.

Not having done much of this before, I am very unorganized and I get easily distracted by other lines, so I need to develop a time line and see if I can find some of the forms I got from the DAR so I can make that happen. My records have been tucked away for a long time and I'm now in the process of getting more familiar with them and notice they're not in such good order. I have a desk upstairs that hubby built that is about 10' long. I think that will be a good place to do my work.

While I was reading about my ancestors, I became distracted and spent quite a bit of time reading about the battles at Sackets Harbor. That is one great advantage to doing this stuff. We learn more and more about the history of our nation, which I find fascinating. To have actually had relatives who fought in the various wars that formed our country is amazing to me.
