Solon, do you think Jesus existed and if so was he a pretty groovy guy?
Excepting the walking on water he seemed like a rather contemplative guy who got used, abused and confused.
Torture being a national past time ya know.

Well, we have to remember that religion is just a man made construct with certain ideas in the story taking precedent over others , so certain fabrications are not as important as others & can easily be dropped or picked up like a child will do with its various toys gambling about the play room . Sometimes your in the mood for a little Ken & Barbie in the doll house (Adam & Eve/garden of eden ) if you want to play that movie , another time your more in want of some good inspirational adult fare of conquering heroics & successful pilgrimage . Stories that are the "golden oldies" & the newer modern updated themes.

The main body of religion has to do with stories of sacred rituals rules & ethics for getting along with each other , which would have its roots simply going all the way back to any tribal organzation , out of evolution entirely . It wasn't God that created the world but God that evolved from out of the world as we evolved into thinking beings , but to the believer who can suspend/forget certain discrepancies so easily ties far back into that ancient origin & still held idea that the end goal is some place of eternal magic where all observable events & laws do not apply . It is no source of mystery to me that such a collection of simple rules & ethics can be forgotten so often after being so oft repeated but anything is possible in this scheme .

Its a pretty simple story after all , philosopher gets convicted (there were many )& given a death sentence which was commonly done then . He didn't speak that many words really or travel that far so why is it so difficult to remember what it was he said ? This is because evolution prolly hasn;t completed its task yet & its the natural incomplete state of our minds to only think we "know" something , when in fact were all mostly scattered to the four winds in any given moment .

Its only been a million years or so having this large a brain and even walking upright in an all too fast moving world , going to take some time to get it down and balanced right .
