Richard,
<Anybody have any good ideas on how to avoid finding ourselves in this mess again.>

I am currently looking at companies with heavy insider buying at higher levels than where their stock is currently trading with good prospects. I figure if management invests a several million dollars of their own money at a higher stock price than what I can buy it for today, most likely I can trust the fundamentals. I have never met anybody who invests money believing they will lose it and after all who knows the true condition and outlook prospects for their company better than the people that run the day to day operations.

For starters,I personally won't pay attention to most of what I read in Money magizine. An article in Money put me onto this stock about a year ago, of course I was a brand new investor then. Money, a good contraian indicator? Smarter now but not much richer, mikekat
