Kealoha - Re: " ...have you already posted a read on the CYRX P2 cross
licensing claims and the implications to INTC."

I've responded many times. Search the SI posts. However, Cyrix makes no claims on the Pentium II - just the Slot 1 interface and any other patent/licensing issues that may exist with NSM.

The Pentium II is a PRODUCT - and is not licensed to anybody.

To repeat - If Cyrix continues to make noise about having rights to the Slot 1 patents, they will fall into Intel's camp - essentially endorsing the entire concept of a Slot 1 interface - after spending the past 9 months bashing it.

The "trade secrets" embodied in the Slot 1 interface should keep Intel's Slot 1 propritary - since Intel chose not to patent all the key concepts - and only the patented concepts are subject to the cross licensing arrangement - NOT TRADE SECRETS.

Further, Intel can also claim complete licenses to ALL Cyrix patented intellectual property.

NOW HEAR THIS - I PREDICT Intel will file for DISMISSAL of Cyrix's patent infringement suit filed against Intel one day after DEC's law suit back in May.

Company Press Release

Cyrix files suit against Intel for patent infringement

RICHARDSON, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 13, 1997--Cyrix Corporation (NASDAQ:CYRX) today announced that it has filed suit against Intel Corporation for patent infringement in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Cyrix asserts in the suit that Intel products including Pentium(R), Pentium Pro and Pentium II microprocessors infringe on one or
both of the patents issued to Cyrix on May 13, 1997. The suit seeks preliminary and permanent injunctive relief along with unspecified damages and fees. "

Intel now has a cross license with Cyrix by virtue of them being acquired by NSM.

This suit will be history in short order.

You heard it here first!
