I agree, Bob. Like many bailed out companies, GM had a completely failed business model. Capitalism would have facilitated the firm's complete demise if allowed to do so. New companies with superior business models would have risen to fill the demand void and grown. Of course, the government intervened and merged with some companies, resulting in fascism.

This happened because GM's owners (along with many other corporate owners) also own Clowngress and the White House. The failed players paid the government to advance their failed models and failed ideas. Definitely NOT capitalism at work; only fascism! -ng-

Re: "no hope of getting all the money back now."

I believe that the controller and GAO disagree with you on that prediction.... (we will see in fairly short order, anyway.)

Re: "Gm while under bankrupcty and Chrysler "unwound small dEALERS THAT WHERE NOT FRANCHISE CHANNELED,UNDERCAPITALIZED OR UNDERPERFORMING VIA REGISTRATION DATA. WHILE IN BANKRUPTCY, FEDERAL LAW USURPED STATE FRANCHISE LAW AND A HEAVY HAND WAS HANDED DOWN TO THE LOCAL SMALL DEALERS.+"

Yes.

So WHAT?

Federal bankruptcy law has LONG superseded such contracts.

So there is no 'usurping' about it, it clearly (and since at least World War II) has been legally superior.

That is the WHOLE PURPOSE of federal bankruptcy in the US... to allow for the shedding of cost overhangs so that through reorganization a viable and ongoing business can emerge.
