There are two sets of Tebow fans. Set one are the sports fans, like those of us here on this board. Not that I speak for everyone here, but I see a vast difference between Newton, the #1 pick in the draft last year, vs Tebow, who went #25 the year before. Newton was the consensus choice to be an NFL starter and star. As for Tebow, many thought he was not even NFL material because of his arm and the inability to operate in the pocket. For set one, it's all about someone surmounting the odds.

Set two are the casual sports fans, e.g. the types that tune in for the playoffs and such if there are good storylines. Tebow was such a storyline. In order to show racism, we'd have to prove that there's a non-white person who, like Tebow, was drafted low and proved his naysayers wrong, yet got zero media coverage and accolades for doing so. Do you have any in mind?
