The fact that you think this post was not technical, probably means
that is was too technical. (Which I was afraid of)

To sum it up in layman's terms, Rambus provides a high-speed interface
to DRAM, not a faster DRAM. However, it is the access time of the
DRAM, not the frequency of the interface which determines system
performance. For example, a 10-bit RDRAM interface running at
600 MHz, has the same performance as a 60-bit DRAM interface running
at 100MHz. The only advantage to the RDRAM interface, is that is uses
fewer pins.
