OTOH, since that buying demand wasn't actually realized, it could just be a manipulation.

Doesn't the fact that these order imbalances occured on a Friday and we are going into a shortened week diminish the accuracy of one's forecast?

My guess is :: the S&P/OEX was run up to knock off all the Put options, and keep the public doped up with a rising mkt. Whatever the imbalance is, I don't trust it. My thinking is the market will start to tank again next week.
