Having lost power for several days in the past, you get used to being without that. Enough light to read, restaurant nearby if you do not have a gas stove, etc. You can adapt quite easily.

Living in an area where we have numerous lengthy power failures (although things have gotten better in recent years) I'm pretty well equipped. For entertainment/news/weather I have a little 5" TV that runs on batteries. It only gets 3 channels but better than nothing and I always have plenty of fresh batteries on hand.

I also have one of those hand crank radios that is also a flashlight. It takes a whole lot of cranking for very little reward but, again, better than nothing.
