I agree about Obama. He did nothing about the banks, bankers, or real estate; and I have been his biggest critic. Got banned on two liberal threads for it, since recinded.

But let me put forth another way of looking at this entire episode.

First, one of the primary thesises (word?-lol) of the foundation differences between liberals and conservatives - dems and pubs is the concept of government and society.

Liberals would put forth this argument. We live in a society of 300 million people and must ensure the society is just, stable and strong. A just, smart society that reflects reality is what determines civilzation.

If the Big Short and other books on the subject are correct, it was the gambling of Wall street and lack of regulations that caused the crash. So society really caused this problem by not monitoring banks or people correctly e.g. no doc loans.

And then the crash was so severe it brought down many innocents with it, e.g. old people losing their reitrement or all of a sudden having their house underwater for something society caused.

We had the same questions during the great depression in the 1930's, "to help or not to help" and history calls FDR a great president for helping the starving kids in the Hoovervilles.

Some of Hoovers advisers told him to let the depression run to get rid of the dead wood. Romney said let the real estate market work its ways out (no matter the carnage). Same thing.

Liberals would say it is good for society to try and help the needy under the cirmcumstances.

Liberals would also say it is not good for any society to have the 6 waltons or top 400 richest people having more than the bottom 150 million people. Income inequality of that magnitude is poisenous to a civilized society; and futhermore society has the right to change it and science says it needs to.

<<Sure go ahead. I don't doubt there was some fraud. I would throw Franklin Raines into the mix as well. Obama is in charge of the justice department - what are they doing? What about the folks who bought houses and walked away from their loans? What about the states doing from a criminal investigation perspective?
