In todays world yes. For several reasons.

1) The less, affluent businesses pay worker's, the more they make. Exxon can afford to pay a fair wage, so can many businesses. But as a rule they will not pay more than they need to or forced to by unions.

But there is a larger concept here. We are 7 billion people living on spaceship earth. Everyone cannot have 250 million in wealth. There is not enough resources and the pollution of that much wealth creation would destroy earth. Do the math.

Everyone on earth cannot have 5 Hummers and eat lobster evey day. Do the math.
