I know we do not spend enough on education. And it is not the teachers fault when kids fail, it is the parents. Some willfully and some who just do not know what to do. It is important to get that first generation educated and then they will make sure their kids are educated. Almost all of my friends who went to college made sure their kids went to college, and as often as not, friends who did not attend college, did not mange to get their kids through college. I have never heard of EVEN one of my friends tell me their kids success, or failure, had anything to do with the teachers. Teachers are a cross section of normal people. Kids who are prepared for school by their parents can learn in any school. Where does the right wing get the idea success in school has anything to do with teachers? One of my kids did a college year in New Zealand. Same teachers as anywhere else. I could have sent either kid to any university in the world and they would have been fine. When they got bad teachers and that was true of all my friends kids, they just made the best of it. We have all had bad teachers. Big friggen deal! There are so many right wing myths. Why the right wing believes all this crazy shit is beyond me? The right wing is always finding someone to blame except themselves. If kids don't make it though school the parents have no one to blame but themselves.
