RE: benefiting from the largess.

Washington DC is the richest city in America now. Karl Rove probably gives himself a salary of millions for running his Super PACs...

The "Contract With America" forced republicans to put up or shut up. It nailed them down. They HATED that and they HATED Gingrich for putting them on the spot. Bottom line is the party elite NEVER liked the agenda of CWA. It was way way too conservative for them.

They quietly dropped it and quietly went back to "working with democrats" to implement the socialist agenda that they believed in and believe in today.

I will never support a liberal/moderate republican again

Yup!

I've only been able to vote for one eventual Presidential winner with any enthusiasm. Fear that put me over quota.

Thought for a long while that Dr. Paul was my man, but nope.

I'm convinced civilization owes the Jews defense of their state. I also happen to know, +/- 3%, exactly how much should be spent on defense -- if done effectively. That amount is $X. Don't have a perfectly precise number, but guess we're spending between 6$X and 25$X, and that not effectively. How to make that right?

I do believe the US is being destroyed by a common belief that government is more that a necessary evil; an overhead expense that needs to be held in check. Periodic interregnums with somewhat better management only stretches out the pain.

A genuine turn will take decades or generations, but needs a start somewhere. Don't see that with the Republican front runners, let alone their developing road kill.
