Eckhard Pfieffer on WALL STREET WEEK was very professional but not greatly enthusiatic and animated. Some of the questions put to him by Rukeyser:

1) Asia's Effect - answer: the smaller buying market (which makes up a small percentage of CPQ's sales will be BALANCED OUT by CPQ's savings in both lower material and labor cost.

2) Sub 1k PCs - CPQ has made a determination to address this market and has close to 50% share. This will also lead to these consumers buying CPQ computers in thir businesses and schools/education buying CPQ PCs.

3) What about the MSFT Internet Explorer problems - MSFT and CPQ and INTC are the triumverate that has been advancing the industry for a long time and this will continue to be so. (A) "Partners sometimes have their disagreements" and (B) as the users have been able to do, they can easily choose change browsers.

All-in-all, the interview was OK...there were NO Dynamic/Dynamite snippets which would cause someone to run out and buy CPQ first thing on Monady.

Thread - Just watched Rukeyser's show from Dallas - he had Eckhard and the CEO of American Airlines on. Show was a waste, he asked a couple stupid high level questions and thats about it.

1) How is Asia affecting Compaq - Pfeiffer said lower sales are being
offset by lower component costs, a net wash in his opinion.
2) What is your relationship with Microsoft and what do you think of
Explorer? - answer - Eckhard simply said CPQ,INTC,MSFT have been
working together for some time now, and the relationship has it's
'points of contention'.
3) Why did you declare a dividend (give me a break!!!) - answer - to broaden our shareholder base.

That's about it folks, hopefully Trufflette can provide more as she was there and participated in a question and answer session.
