Most prototypes I've seen have been much inferior to the final product. Bailing twine comes to mind. In fairness, the demo was much more than a prototype. MAss-production is often better than handcrafting. Production models are usually better than their pre-production counterparts.

If your supposition is correct, wouldn't you like it to be confirmed by someone speaking for Qcom? And, if not, wouldn't you too like to know how Qcom produced a stunning demo model years before the so-so production model?
