Very much so: <wouldn't you like it to be confirmed by someone speaking for Qcom? And, if not, wouldn't you too like to know how Qcom produced a stunning demo model years before the so-so production model? >

Secretive corporate culture is a great negative in my book. Yes, production enables improvements due to economies of scale, experience, fine tuning, and new ideas, but I can see that it's possible for a demonstration unit to be better for various reasons.

Qualcomm tends to have all sorts of information available only to insiders. There isn't much information which needs to be secret. In the oil industry, lubricant formulations were considered top secret. Once, Shell inadvertently sent us all their formulations [in paper form, as things were back in the day]. One of my team came in to me quite excited that we had them. I said there didn't really seem to be any point in bothering to waste time reading them, or doing anything about it. [Never mind whether doing so would be legal or not which it probably was]. So we just sent them back, unread. Maybe I should have phoned Exxon or somebody to see whether they'd offer me money for a copy - that didn't occur to me and isn't my inclination anyway. Apple is seriously silent and people think that's a good thing. Maybe there's good reason for some things such as avoiding software walking out the door.

--> Mirasol ... so,so production model

Your assumption here based upon reviews or whatever is just wrong. Under similar lighting conditions, my Kyobo eReader displays content just as well as all the demo videos I have seen over the years. This is especially true for still colour images.

The reviewers are comparing Mirasol front light with ipad like displays. That's like comparing a well lit Apple to a poorly lit Kumquat. The proper comparison would be to show each under their ideal conditions and also each under their less than ideal conditions. I have yet to see any reviews go that direcion. If reviewers did they would have to report Mirasol superior in brightly lit situations and ipad superior in low light situations. I have only seen reviews of the later situation.

Mirasol has it's place and when used as advertised is good technology. Battery dying, Q wifi does suck! Have to post now. More later.
