The total cost of the room for the three is 27 but you half to subtract the 2 from 27 to get the the actual cost of room. Sounds like you broke one of those old laws of math we learned back in grade school. assoc or cumm best I can come up with.

They paid 30/3 = $10 per person.
Actual cost should be = 25/3 = $8.333333 per person.
They paid 27/3 = $9.00.
I.e they each paid 33 cents too much!.
ANSWER: The Bell-Boy RIPPED THEM OFF!
