<<Remember MB is a very astute business man and has
got QNTM where it is today through far sighted aquisitions. Precisely what
Haggerty and Shugart seem to have neglected.>>
As one of the biggest Quantum bulls on the planet, let's look at this objectively.
1) Quantum has made HUGE investments in the high end and never made any money there.
2) DLT was somewhat of an accident.
3) The heads business remains a disaster.
4) The early move to MR was much more disasterous than WDC's late move, at least so far.
5) QUANTUM STOCK TRADES FOR UNDER HALF ITS PROPER VALUATION AND SO FAR MANAGEMENT HAS TAKEN NO ACTION TO CORRECT such as at least a token share repurchase program or more importantly spinning off a few shares of DLT to shareholders to establish an independent value.
Resolution of number five and an end to the bleeding in heads and the high end will determine whether MB is an Eagle or a duck.
As for Haggerty and Shugart, Haggerty's shareholder orientation is the best in the business and Shugart built the world's largest drive company although Seagate's inability to perform in the low end for such a long period raises questions.
