Well, we've clearly established the fact we read Nixon differently. At least on Vietnam. As for all the kudos passed along to him lately, he did those things not out of any conviction but because of political necessity. The political culture of the time forced that on him if he wished to stay in office.

The only thing that leaps to mind that gives him any credence so far as I am concerned is his recognition of China. Perhaps there are others but they certainly don't stand out.
