A note of warning from none other than Steve Jobs. In an interview in the Red Herring awhile back Steve said that cable modems for the internet was NOT the way to go....that the way to go was by the twisted copper wire route by the Bell Regionals. They offer a faster and cheaper service..xSDN....and most of the system is ALREADY installed. So why all the fuss about ATHM???? When the time is ripe, and it will be soon...watch out.

Ahha > What companies will benefit from their success?<
What about the modem manufacturers, or are they too diverse? How about the cable companies like CVC (picked this month in Worth mag pg.48)

Ah-hahha-hee-hee-- You pose the question regarding other potential beneficiaries. I've been contemplating that question for months... and have established equity positions in several companies. 1. TCI Cable (TCOMA) for reasons I've argued at SI for about a year. 2. Engineering, construction- That is Antec (ANTC). Contractual commitments with TCI (who own 10% in their TCIVA stock) make this a potential winner. 3. Equipment: Corning (GLW) control 50% of the fibre optic cable production in the U.S. and worldwide. New splicing technologies enhance value. Best bets? I dunno, but I've placed a third of my long term investments across these and ATHM. Paul
