Patrick,

I expect that the weighted average shares outstanding will come in at
360M based on the last 3 quarters trend and the 330. M number reported today.

The volatility of DELL stock Friday seems to be due to triple witching a very large number of call options expired worhtless Friday. More worthless than expiring in the money. As I recall more than 60,000 options expired representing about 6 M shares of DELL stock. The actual share volume was a little above its daily average of 9M.
I think there were probably fewer options exercised yesterday.

A lot of the bullishness on this stock has been bled off this month.
All this has little to do with the company itself and a lot to do with the mood of the market. DELL and CPQ are stilled joined at the hip with respect to price action.

This will be the first quarter since CPQ and the other company's implemented their BTO and I think Wall street wants to know if they have slowed the DELL train down any. My own computations indicate that the answer is no! But soon we will know.

Regards,

Jim Kelley

Pat , re. Dell buying its shares aggressively .
How many shares can they buy ?
According to estimates Dell has $1B in cash , even if they spent all their cash (very unlikely!), they could buy only 12M shares or 3.3% of the total . To put it another way , Dell's market capln at $30B is very high considering their total net assets are $1.4B ,
Brian

Patrick,

I think I must agree with Cricket that there will be no split for a while.
