For them, it is a critical role.

And they are wrong, both in practical and constitutional terms.

Which doesn't mean I want to impose my view on them, I just don't want them to impose their view on others, and they are the only ones trying to impose here.

Some would call that progress.

And some people wear tinfoil hats and say the government is trying to control them (at least some fictional people, but there are probably at least a very few real world examples). Which isn't to say that people who see changing views here are like the wearers of tinfoil hats, but "some people say...", doesn't really get us anywhere.

At some point manufacturers quite producing parts for outdated products.

A voluntary action.

"it would still be wrong for me to grab him and take his hat away."

Sure, but would it be wrong of you to not give him a platform if it were inconvenient to do so? Not so much.

The action here is like taking his hat away, much more than it is like giving him a platform. The church already has platforms (and taking them away, as opposed to not merely giving the church one would be a 1st amendment violation), and if it didn't then it would just be that no one would hear about the hats being taken away.
