A voluntary action.

If you're sitting there with an ice box and no one to sell you ice, that's not voluntary. You didn't volunteer to be left without that resource. I understand the distinction between that and something happening by government edict. But I wasn't talking about the government. I was talking about progress, in general. In this case the Obama government is just riding a progressive (small "p") trend. Progress always leaves someone behind and being left behind is not voluntary. It's a bitch to be left behind. I'm old enough now to have seen some things that are near and dear to me abandoned by a moving (some would say progressing) culture. If I were still clinging to '50's Catholicism, I'd be upset, too. The guy with the ice box can protest all he wants, especially if the government was trying to expedite the conversion to refrigerators, but that won't make ice boxes come back.
