If they can abuse the freedom of the "50's Catholics" they can abuse yours as well. Yeah, I know. "First they came for the communists..." But I don't think this is the same thing at all. More like first they came for the ice box owners, however bad that example. It applies to any position that has been overtaken by events, is dying out. Better to stand with people you might not be fond of, to protect freedom, then to ditch freedom for those you don't agree with. Not if it strengthens them a lot and me only a tad. Not that I support this Obamacare initiative. I don't. For two of the three reasons you don't. My position is that it's not worth going to the mat over. And that, if I'm going to be stuck with a culturally authoritarian government, what the right would impose is more offputting to me personally than what the left would impose.
