I'm not sure its just overshooting. You might over shoot in terms of the actual results, then maybe things would pull back (or maybe they wouldn't) but all the time you would have people arguing for more and more. To the extent they have no political power, I wouldn't be all that concerned, but such movements often recruit political power (or have long already had it). This particular case is an application of political power.

Others might think its ok in principle, but think it doesn't work well in a pluralist system, with respect for differences of belief.

These are the people that I though would be eventually recoverable.


But without imposition against religion, you might never have to recover them. With it, you might recover some, but wouldn't recover others, and even those that you later recover my be "soldiers in the enemy army" and effect changes you don't like.
