Regarding "real estate is growing" comment. I don't keep track of that, at all, but I have a close friend at church who just returned from a month in Florida, in the Naples area. His wife fell in love with the area and they decided to buy a condo to avoid these cold Colorado winters.

They looked at several, chose one and proceeded to arrange a loan. Their realtor was unable to find a bank that would make the loan since their permanent residence is in Colorado. So they contacted their Colorado bank and were told "NO". The reason they claimed is the RE market in that part of FL is too depressed and they are currently not doing any RE loans there.

Maybe someone more familiar with that situation could comment. My friends came home disappointed, to say the least.

Bob, excellent post... in fact, I have a good friend in commercial real estate who tells me his business is brisk right now...
