Yes and don't forget there is a huge industry that wants to prolong life past 65 where there is actually a financial disincentive to actually improve the quality of life. Cure a problem with behavior modification is not profitable while surgical and drug therapies are far more profitable since they usually involve follow-on care.

I believe some have the idea we can fix the problem by limiting how much money is put into the pot so the health industry has to make choices how to spend it... but it is far easier for them to use scare tactics and resist change. I don't think there is an easy solution but cutting the middle men out that serve only to collect fees (insurance companies) is probably a good goal for the long term... but they are so powerful they got to Obama and bought him off from single payer system... Can you imagine if we all had to go out and buy "police insurance" to get police, FBI, CIA and military protection to prevent "intruders" from taking what is ours? I see health care as little different... viruses are intruders.... it would be great if we could get a basic, minimum level of health care for all in the US with a single payer... then if you want to purchase additional insurance for extras like (for example and these could be way off) crowns rather than pulled teeth... or new hips rather than pain meds or walkers... or expensive drug therapies to extend life a few months....you buy the insurance to pay for it.

For example, I paid for my own crowns and they were pretty reasonable compared to what it would have cost if a similar procedure was provided by a hospital with tons of forms.... etc... If I had a crown down at a "hospital" the price would be jacked up 35% to pay for all the procedures not covered by Medicare than another 35% to cover all the illegals who work here .... 200% to run tests to make sure nothing was missed so I don't sue.... then another 50% for hospital profit margin... pretty soon a $1,000 dental crown is $10,000!

the federal government wants everyone to die soon after their 65th birthday, this way they don't have to pay out social security...

With the proposed changes to the Death Tax and Inheritance of IRA's ( brought up while you were gone...link below), we should just give the government everything, and then they can just pay us a weekly allowance, like when I was a kid.
