RE: " I don't know if this guy knows what he's talking about."

He is not a bad guy but he does not know what he's talking about.
(at least usually)

Alexis,
Re -- News of K7 being fully RISC, I don't know if this guy knows what he's talking about..

Are you sure Jerry Sanders knows what he is talking about? K7 may as well be RISC for all that it matters. The Party has long since been over!!

Confirmation of K6-3D rumors:

I guess the guy at betterchips doesn't simply spread false rumors although he could be a little clearer. A while back he stated he went to AMD and recieved a demonstration of the K6-3D and showed it was 30% faster than a PII-300.....Thomas Pabst of Tom's Hardware Guide aparently got this same demo at COMDEX and observed the same thing! However, this 30% faster is under 3D Winbench, not necessarily in overall performance, but still, for gamers this is a significant development. Here's the URL:

tomshardware.com

Maybe AMD really will turn into the gamer's CPU, however, I still don't see what advantage it has over an add-in board like the Voodoo2 .....The only thing I can see is lower cost for an OEM to produce a "3D System", but I have sincere doubts that these new 3D instructions can compete with a dedicated 3D Processor.
