Jack, If AMTX is not the choice then who is? Why are you saying this? One other thing, why would TXN buy them if they didn't feel they were one of the best?

Thank You,

harly

<..AMTI will benifit TXN a few years from now, but not until 1999.
DRAM will continue to post heavy losses for TXN for next 13 monthes.
So, do not expect good earning growth for next 4 quarters. Also, who knows what happens 4 quarters later, may be AMTI's technology is no longer the best choice anymore. I feel TXN will post a so so earning(at best) next quarter as this industry will do, and down trend
may be not finished yet.>

I agree Jack.

As I posted awhile back, I have owned TXN since early Jan of this year and have been thrilled with the performance until recently. As a trader, I (unfortunately) let TXN be one of a small handful of stocks that I JUST OWNED and did not sell (CSCO and INTC being two other large caps, though I am flat on INTC for awhile now).

And whereas I also believe the DSP market will explode in the coming years, TXN does still have quite a bit of DRAM exposure. And they will NOT be without significant competetion (for instance, the LU 16000 is cheaper than the C6x, and will soon be faster). I (also) think they may not make their expected next several quarters. In fact, I would be prepared for some formal earnings downward revisions near term.

Ongoing Asian weakness does not help either, nor does Barton Biggs' continuing to sound his tech "bear-market" horn.

I'll be completely flat in TXN soon, and would look to buy back in low 40s to high 30s.
