"You can't have it both ways. If Countries can adopt certain rights, then they can un-adopt them just as readily."

Think you for that straw man and pretense. I, of course, completely believe that countries can withdraw the admission of human rights and freedoms.

"First of all: No it's not"

Sorry, if denial is your only argument...then you have failed miserably!

"Universal rights are not "granted""

You are mistaken!

en.wikipedia.org

"If your rights supersede mine just because I may happen to be dependant on you, then these "rights" are not universal at all."

Yes--but your conditional fails the test of truth. My rights do NOT supercede yours. Don't conflate rights with intelligence.

"If however you are aware that certain naredowells have occupied your barn, and you proceed to exercise your "right" to burn down that barn anyway, (even though they don't have permission to be in your barn) then you sir, will have committed an act of murder and will be found guilty of depriving those poor souls of their legitimate right to life."

Thank you once again for another red herring! I am not in the habit of burning down barns, however.

"It's exactly the same thing with abortion."

Abortion has nothing to do with burning down barns.

"Once you know that there is another human being involved, then your rights are mitigated by that fact."

As I explained, it is impossible to grant rights to all living things. As humans we must draw rational legal and moral lines that preserve the right to reproductive choice and the right to eat carrots. Because without rights we HAVE NO rights. This is a concept that you will probably never get but I thoroughly understand how that is for you.

"It has nothing to do with force: it has everything to do with basic Human Decency."

Correct. And we must keep it that way. Violation of fundamental rights is more than indecent: It is obscene. Force is NOT a moral code and we must ensure that groups are never allowed to force a woman to either birth her fetus or not. Of course, all are aware that throughout history woman HAVE been forced to conceive and to birth...as well as to abort. These violations of rights are nothing for any human to be proud of.
