**** Touchprint Trivia **

It was about 26 years ago that Ryan Fowler was born in Redondo Beach, California, the son of Randy Fowler who spent most of his free time tinkering in his garage while employed in the space technology division of TRW. Ryan has now graduated from the University of Arizona.
Fowler became very interested in how TRW's credit division could avoid mixing up people with similar names. It was not untill the advancement of the micro-chip in the 1970's and the advancement of the microprocessor in the 80's that reached the power levels necessary to realize his idea.

It took Fowler 11 years to form Identix and since August 1982, he has been waging an uphill battle to perfect the technology.
Initial venture capital from Citicorp and soon Ascom Holdings also bought 35 % of Identix stock ( Now around 22 % ? )

Since 1985, when IDXX ( NASDAQ ) - 1 7/8 ), was still crawling around in " Huggies " Ascom has been spoon feeding the Sunnyvalle company hoping someday that their baby would someday wear street clothes.

When reflecting on the early days in his garage in Redondo Beach and how far he has come, Fowler often muses, " The key to success is a personality flaw ! You've got to be just too dumb or too stubborn to give up and do something else. "

Buzz, wishing to be ' booked ' at a IDX workstation ? Go for it ! you will enjoy it, and it doesn't hurt a bit

to be continued .......

&&&.......cheers

Thanks Hal, should've included that... Sure is quiet tonight. Been surfing and found a couple of links that has a referance to IDX and access control. One from: cctpwww.cityu.edu.hk is from a university in Hong Kong dealing with the Technical Information Series, Technology & Planning Section, Computing Services Centre, City University of Hong Kong.

The second is an Oracle Advanced Networking Option administrator's Guide

adpc.purdue.edu

What I find interesting about this is, Why would Oracle go through all the trouble of publishing installation procedures if IDX wasn't a done deal... Also IDX is the only "biometric" company mentioned. Kerberos, CyberSAFE, SecurID, ICL's Access Manager, Bull ISM, Banyan, aaannnd Biometric (Identix), DCE GSSAPI,
CHAPTER 8. Configuring and Using the Biometric Authentication Adapter

adpc.purdue.edu

Also came accross IDX-50, Was this the ORIGINAL???

steve

ps. Brad, notice in the URL "purdue.edu" I don't think that NRID is alone there...
