TopCat, > And, if you understood anything about the development cycle of an automobile, you'd know the cars that have come out from Detroit recently were on the drawing boards before Obama took office.

Here's the real problem that Ted, Alghieri, and other "fairweather fans" of GM will NEVER admit.

The problem with GM before the bailout wasn't quality. They had a lot of good cars, trucks, and SUVs in their lineup.

Nor was it marketing. GM had a huge advertising budget and IMO did a great job with their Americana theme. They also had significant presence in motor sports, car shows, enthusiast circles, and dealerships.

No, the real problem was how GM was run. Their cost structure was unsustainable, and their management made a lot of missteps. And both were severely compounded by unions. It got to the point where GM would have to be exceptionally good in what they produced in order to justify their cost structures. And as we all know GM wasn't THAT good.

So why is Ted all of a sudden able to see himself driving GM cars? It's simple. He would drive a piece of shit if it meant giving Republicans the finger.
