Yes it is rediculous that the PC industry needs to perpertuate the hype that most people need the highest performance systems that offer on something like 5-20 point differences on a collapsed scale of 600. Percentage performance diferences for most aps are hardly worth the paper used to report them. A lot of jobs are built around the "need for speed" no matter how little sense it makes today for the average user. Intel was counting on their ability to keep users herded toward their expsensive PII systems but the statistics show that sub $1000 systems have taken the consumer market by storm and now threaten the business market.
